ROOT BEER ICE CREAM...Here's a tease...reduced 3 bottles of bubbly root beer (long story later) to a nice syrup. We churned and tasted...hmmm, still needs a kick more rooty beer flavor.
So here we have the results of 3-12 ounce bottles of said root beer. Recipe said 30 or so minutes to reduce. Let's call it 2 hours!!! Of course, a very brilliant friend of mine (Gregg) suggested I use a 12-inch saute pan and reduce with more surface space, thus reducing time as well. (See, I have brilliant friends!)
Still, I churned away the lovely concoction in my ice cream machine. Now, sadly but necessary, I'm off to make dinner. But I'll return later today or tomorrow to, hopefully, showcase the finished product with a bit more Rooty Beer punch (thanks to another suggestion from my ever-brilliant friend (who is also a fabulous Chef!!). Tune in soon!
